Approach

“Regenerative systems sustainability is the only approach that will simultaneously reverse the accelerating twin intertwined challenges of climate change and unsustainability. Applied to urban and regional planning, it becomes planning and designing the regenerative built environment, city, and region. This approach will establish the spatial economic basis for inclusive global prosperity. Applied to business and the economy, it will guide and complete the transition to our new regenerative ecological economy. Fortunately, it is also the best defense against the increasingly inhospitable, damaging, and costly environmental and economic conditions that will intensify during the 100-year-long-plus period of climate success recalibration.” (Regenerative Urbanism - A synopsis, 2022).

Einstein once said: “If I were given only one hour to save the planet, i would spend 59 minutes defining the problem and one minute resolving it.” Humanity is now at approximately a metaphorical 59 minutes and 10 seconds. We have 50 seconds left to resolve the problem and save the planet (ourselves). Fortunately, leading thinkers, scientists, and range of practitioners have figured it out. The innovation is underway. Humanity now knows what to do and how to do it. We simply need to do it quickly and at scale. However, most people do not understand this point as the innovation and knowledge is mostly invisible.

As a result, the Center’s approach is to illuminate this existing knowledge and the on-going innovation that continues to produce it so that we can all engage and act in concert to create a new era of inclusive regenerative abundance, prosperity, and success in time for the planet and people. Its secondary mission is enabling and contributing to the continuing innovation necessary to bridge the gap to success in time.
