Accurate Understanding

of the Sustainability Challenge and the Requirements for an Effective Response

The accurate understanding presented here arises from a synthesis of an emerging approach implicit in the green planning, design, and sustainability innovation over the past 30+ years.

That approach is best understood as Regenerative Systems Sustainability (RSS). Applied to the city (urban and regional or “settlement system” planning), it becomes the Regenerative City, and with its highest value initial focus, it becomes the Regenerative Built Environment (RBE; buildings, infrastructure, landscape).

This synthesis has been produced formally over the past 15 years, through various pro-bono and independent engagements and a few practice engagements. The following products provide different levels of detail.
